The Four Insects (known as The 4 Insects on a billboard) were an unseen, but much heard fictional band and one-time characters of the episode, "The Hatrocks and the Gruesomes", featured in the fifth season of the original series, The Flintstones.

Background[]

The Four Insects were formed by a quartet of cavemen (with their faces only shown on a billboard) who recorded the "bug" music song, "She Said, Yeah Yeah Yeah", that drove the Hatrocks crazy and plumb-loco which they couldn't stand it.

Physical Appearance[]

They are a quartet of slender cavemen with fair skin and long noses and black mop top style hair that covers their eyes. Although their faces were only shown from a billboard, their loincloths were not shown.

Role in the episode[]

When a couple played the detested "bug" music song, "She Said, Yeah Yeah Yeah" recorded by the Four Insects and heard from a record of a jukebox at the Dinosaur's Club Café which drove the Hatrocks plumb-loco, one of the family members, Jethro, Zack and Slab with their stone-firing rifles were shooting up the jukebox and a Pterodactyl record-playing needle hid cover, holding his flag of truce and said to cease fire.

Meanwhile at the Flintstone home, Barney with Fred's help used a screwdriver to wire both the radio and the telephone with a wire that was connected to a room as a recording studio. After setting it up, the duo with Wilma and Betty in their black mop top style wigs, a microphone and Fred's white guitar recorded the song that caused Jethro and Zack to shoot the radio up and Granny to call the police which she was about to get them on the phone, but the shell horn said, "Ahh!" and the whole family drove away to Tombstone Manor.

At the Manor, they were surrounded by the Gruesomes in their black mop top style wigs and their white guitars playing the song which drove them away back to the Flintstone home. Back at the house, they were surrounded by Pebbles, Bamm-Bamm and their babysitters, Dino and Hoppy in their black mop top style wigs and their white guitars playing it and then drove all the way back to Arkanstone.

Notes/Trivia[]

  • Although the Four Insects and their "bug" music were supposed to be a parody of the Beatles, the style of guitar playing was actually surf guitar.
