Perry Gunnite is a hard boiled detective in Bedrock. He first appeared in S01E21 episode of the original series, Love Letters on the Rocks, where he was used as a parody of TV detective Peter Gunn.
And Western Publishing needing a huge stable of characters to create comics for, Perry Gunnite, along with Cave Kids, Rodney Rocktop and Pebble Bleach got spun off into their own stories in Flintstones comics.
