Perry Gunnite

Perry Gunnite is a hard boiled detective in Bedrock. He first appeared in S01E21 episode of the original series, Love Letters on the Rocks, where he was used as a parody of TV detective Peter Gunn. 

And Western Publishing needing a huge stable of characters to create comics for, Perry Gunnite, along with Cave Kids, Rodney Rock Top and Pebble Bleach got spun off into their own stories in Flintstones comics. 

Perry Gunnite has also shown up in other Flintstones merchandise including the Denny's activity books from the early 90's/
