Saber-Toothed Bears (also called Bearasauruses) are a species of prehistoric bears which existed during the Stone Age featured in the franchise of The Flintstones.

Background[]

They mostly resembled regular bears with brown or variously colored fur except that they had large fangs like those of a saber-toothed cat. Others though were far larger and had blue and purple skin with dinosaur-like spots on their backs. They were quite dangerous and mainly lived in forests, often antagonizing campers.

Fred had several incidents with these troublesome creatures in both the original show and The Flintstone Comedy Show.

Uses[]

Because of their wild nature, saber-toothed bears had very little use in caveman society, however they could be hunted and were mainly harvested for their hides and heads which would make for decorations such as pelts, rugs or mounted trophies. They were also the basis for the ever-popular Stuffed Saber-Toothed Bear and Teddy Bearasaurus dolls.
