Parrotsauruses (also known simply as Parrots) are a species of birds which existed during the Stone Age featured in the franchise of The Flintstones.

Background[]

Parrotsauruses were medium and vibrantly winged birds with large heads, short necks, curved beaks, feathers on the top of their heads, variously colored plumages on their main bodies and heads (including the most common green and others) and feathers on their tails. They were intelligent and talkative which they were used to mimic caveman speech including repeating words and phrases and even imitating voices and noises.

Uses[]

Like other prehistoric birds, such as dodo birds and pterodactyls, parrotsauruses had several uses, as some were kept as domestic household pets by cavepeople in society and others were used in a wide assortment of sound-based appliances. According to the franchise and the book, The Flintstones' Wacky Inventions, they were also used as Squawker Phones (like the one from A Flintstone Family Christmas) intercoms, voicemails, car horns, dictabirds, audio recorders, messengers, and many other uses.

Roles[]

The most notably used parrotsauruses were Milford from the comic strips, Claymore from the episode, "Birdbrained" and the elderly and fussy Dictabird from the 1994 live-action film, who served as the role of Slate Rock and Gravel Company's executive Fred Flintstone's personal assistant and helped him defeat the villainous Cliff Vandercave which it was voiced by Harvey Korman who previously voiced Gazoo from the original series.
