The Broncosaurus (also called a Horseasaurus or simply a Bronco or Horse) is a species of smaller horse-like brontosaurus which existed during the Stone Age featured in the franchise of The Flintstones.
Background[]

A pair of broncosauruses from "Droop-Along Flintstone".
The Broncosaurus was a wild, bucking dinosaur from Texarock that was an essentially dwarf brontosaurus around the height of a caveman, making them easier to ride. They also bared a strong resemblance to the snorkasaurus. Like with modern horses, they acted like them, sounded like them, and bucked like them.
Uses[]

Racing broncosauruses from "At the Races".
Because of their smaller size and speed, the Broncosaurus was the main riding animal of Texarock, and as such many were usually seen with a saddle on their back and ridden by cowboys for either herding or rustling. Outside Texarock though, a broncosaurus enjoyed more use as a racetrack animal, with a bronco race being particularly popular in Bedrock and where many a caveman would go to lose all their hard-earned money on a poorly placed bet. Racing broncos were driven by jockeys which were usually monkeysauruses or rarely shorter cavemen.
Breeds and Relatives[]
Although most resembled a caveman-sized brontosaurus, a few of them had horse-like ears and a mane, and an extremely rare few actually resembled a regular horse but with shaggier fur with spots or stripes.
Ponysaurus[]

A ponysaurus from "Deep in the Heart of Texarock".
Ponysauruses (known simply as Ponies) were the smallest and cutest breed of bronco and were the most popular among children thanks to their smaller size and more tame speed. They were notable for their small horse-like ears and mane which regular broncos lacked, making them look like a hybrid between a broncosaurus and a modern bronco.
Clydes-Dinos[]

Clydes-Dinos were an extremely rare breed of horseasaurus with brown fur, flowers from the back of their mane, white furry feet on the bottom and a white mark on the center of their face and the one most resembling its modern counterpart, the Clydesdale horse. They were only shown from the beginning of the closed-circuit broadcast in a 1967 Busch advertsing reel pulling a wagon filled with pacakges of Anheuser-Busch beer.
Horned Horseasaurus[]

A Horned Horseasaurus (also called a Unicorn or simply Horseasaurus) is a very rare breed of very large and muscular horseasaurus with a woolly mane and a long curved or spiral horn on its head and the ones that most resembled a modern horse in terms of mammalian features, although some could have no fur and scales instead. These creatures were only seen as rare exotic animals in a circus, such as in "Wooly the Great". They also had some use in construction by the time of The Flintstone Comedy Show and were also mentioned on a construction manual in The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas where their horns were harvested to be used as nails or drills. Their image was also used for Merry-Go-Rounds.
Zebrasaurus[]

A Zebrasaurus from What is a Zebra?.
A Zebrasaurus (known simply as a Zebra) was another mammalian breed and the one most resembling its modern counterpart. They were rarely seen outside of a zoo, animal shelter (as seen in "Dino's Girl") or in the wild and were never tamed as riding animals, but they were hunted and harvested for their pelt which were made into clothes, blankets, coverings or rugs commonly seen in daily caveman life.
Donkeysaurus[]

A jackasaurus from "Gold Fever".
A Donkeysaurus (known as a Jackassaurus, Donkasaurus or simply as a Donkey) was also another mammalian breed and the one most resembling its modern counterpart which they were rarely used as working animals for carrying mining equipment including one from the episode, "Gold Fever" for example.

Notes/Trivia[]
- A Bronco is a term used to refer to a wild or half-tamed horse of the western US.
- It actually resembles the real-life Magyarosaurus which is considered the smallest of the sauropods.
- The horned horseasaurus, aside from its resemblance to a shaggier and more muscular unicorn, also resembles some depictions of the extinct perissodactyl, the Siberian unicorn (Elasmotherium sibiricum).
